Home School Agreement

At King’s Cross Academy, we believe children achieve their best when school, families and pupils work together in a spirit of trust, respect and shared responsibility.

Our Home–School Agreement sets out the commitments we make to one another to support every child’s learning, wellbeing and personal development. Together, we aim to ensure that every child feels safe, happy, included and inspired to achieve their best.

Our families

As parents and carers, we ask that you:

• ensure your child attends school every day, arrives on time and is ready to learn;
• avoid taking holidays during term time and support the school’s expectations for good attendance;
• ensure our child wears the correct school uniform;
• communicate openly with the school about anything that may affect our child’s learning, wellbeing or behaviour;
• support the school’s behaviour expectations, policies and values;
• attend parent meetings and engage with opportunities to discuss our child’s learning and progress;
• support home learning and encourage regular reading;
• encourage our child to work hard, participate fully and make the most of the opportunities available to them;
• read and respond, where necessary, to communications from the school; and
• work respectfully and constructively with school staff when questions or concerns arise.

Our Academy

As a school, we will:

• provide an ambitious, broad and inclusive curriculum that enables every child to succeed;
• provide a safe, welcoming and stimulating environment in which children are known, valued and cared for;
• have high expectations for every child’s learning, behaviour and personal development;
• celebrate children’s achievements and encourage them to be ambitious for themselves;
• listen to children and ensure they have meaningful opportunities to express their views;
• keep families informed about their child’s learning, progress, attendance and wellbeing;
• provide regular opportunities for parents and carers to meet with teachers and discuss their child’s progress;
• work in partnership with families and communicate openly when concerns arise;
• make reasonable adjustments and provide appropriate support so that all children can participate fully in school life;
• seek the views of families and provide opportunities to contribute to the development of the Academy; and
• provide healthy, nutritious school meals.

Our pupils

As pupils of King’s Cross Academy, we as that you will:

• come to school ready to learn and do our best;
• follow our school expectations and help make KCA a safe and happy place;
• show Respect, Integrity, Endurance, Kindness, Courage and Aspiration in the way we learn, play and treat others;
• listen to others and respect their rights, feelings and differences;
• take care of our school, our belongings and the belongings of others;
• take responsibility for our choices and learn from our mistakes;
• participate fully in lessons and the wider opportunities available at KCA; and
• speak to a trusted adult when we are worried, need help or think someone else may need support.
