Home school agreement

The Playground at King's Cross Academy Primary School

At King’s Cross Academy, we believe that children achieve their very best when school, families, and pupils work closely together in a spirit of mutual respect and partnership. This Home School Agreement sets out the commitments we each make to support every child’s education, wellbeing, and personal growth.

By signing this agreement, parents and carers, the Academy, and pupils themselves affirm a shared responsibility for ensuring that every child is safe, happy, and inspired to learn. Together, we will uphold the values of respect, kindness, and curiosity that define our school community.

Home – school partnership agreement

King’s Cross Academy aims to create a positive, stimulating environment which promotes children’s learning in all areas of our curriculum.

THE PARENT(S)/GUARDIAN
I/we will make every effort to:

  • Ensure that my/our child attends school regularly, on time and adequately prepared for a school day (this includes not taking holidays in term times);
  • Communicate with the school about anything which might affect my/our child’s learning or behaviour;
  • Actively support the school’s policies and guidelines for behaviour and attendance;
  • Ensure my child wears the school uniform every day;
  • Attend meetings such as parent interviews and support any opportunities for home learning;
  • Encourage my/our child to do their best in all areas of school life;
  • Read, and where appropriate, respond to written communications from the school;
  • Encourage my child to eat school meals.

THE ACADEMY
We will make every effort to:

  • Ensure that each child is given the opportunity to succeed;
  • Care for your child’s safety, well-being and happiness;
  • Enable children to express themselves;
  • Keep you as parents informed of your child’s progress and achievements and provide an annual report;
  • Encourage you as parents to be involved in all aspects of your child’s school life;
  • Arrange parent interviews at which your child’s progress can be discussed;
  • Consult with parents regarding proposed major changes to the school environment, particularly those which will directly affect children and/or parents;
  • Provide a balanced curriculum and meet the individual needs of each child;
  • Provide an opportunity for parents and carers to provide feedback to the Academy;
  • Provide healthy and fresh school meals.

Smartphone-Free Commitment

From September 1st 2025, we are a smartphone-free school, and we ask that parents agree to the following commitment:

I understand that King’s Cross Academy is a smartphone and smartwatch-free school. If my child needs to bring a phone to school for safety reasons, I will ensure it is a basic, non-smart device with no internet access. I agree that it will be clearly labelled with my child’s name, switched off before entering the school premises, and handed to the Deputy Headteacher upon arrival. In addition, I support the school’s stance that smartphones or smartwatches are not permitted on school trips or residential visits, and I understand that any smartphone or smartwatch brought to school will be confiscated and returned to the parents or carer.
