School Uniform

The Playground at King's Cross Academy Primary School

School Uniform

At King’s Cross Academy, our uniform helps create a sense of belonging, identity and pride in our school community. We want children to look smart and feel comfortable, while ensuring that our uniform remains practical and affordable for every family.

Keeping uniform affordable

Families are not required to purchase uniform carrying the King’s Cross Academy logo.

In line with Department for Education guidance on the cost of school uniform, we are committed to keeping branded items to a minimum and ensuring families have choice about where they purchase uniform.

All of our essential uniform can be purchased as generic, non-branded clothing from supermarkets, high-street shops or other uniform retailers. Items carrying the KCA logo are available for families who would like them, but they are entirely optional.

We never want the cost of uniform to be a barrier to a child participating fully in school life. If you need support with school uniform, please contact us and we will be happy to help.

Our school uniform

Children should wear:

  • pale blue polo shirt;
  • red sweatshirt or cardigan;
  • black or grey trousers, jogging bottoms, shorts, leggings or skirt;
  • black or white socks; and
  • safe, suitable footwear.

During warmer weather, children may also wear a red gingham summer dress.

Logoed KCA sweatshirts and other uniform items are available through our online uniform supplier, but the school logo is not compulsory. A plain red sweatshirt or cardigan and pale blue polo shirt are equally acceptable.

PE kit

For PE, children should wear:

  • plain white T-shirt; and
  • plain black sports shorts.

There is no requirement for branded KCA PE kit.

Please ensure children have suitable footwear for the physical activity they are taking part in.

Optional KCA-branded items

Families who wish to purchase branded items can do so through our online uniform store. Optional items include:

  • KCA embroidered sweatshirt and other core uniform;
  • KCA embroidered fleece jacket;
  • KCA embroidered reversible Mistral jacket;
  • KCA embroidered PE bag; and
  • KCA rucksack.

These items are optional and generic alternatives are always welcome.

Footwear

Children should wear footwear that is safe, comfortable and suitable for a busy school day.

Conventional black school shoes are welcome, as are smart trainers and safe, closed-toe sandals. Footwear should allow children to move safely around school and participate comfortably in their day.

For safety reasons, children should not wear flip-flops, backless shoes, platforms or other footwear that is unsuitable for school activities.

Pre-loved uniform

We encourage families to make use of pre-loved school uniform wherever possible. Reusing good-quality uniform helps families reduce costs and supports our commitment to sustainability.

Our PTA regularly run £1 uniform sales, please see our newsletters for the next sale.

Labelling uniform

Please clearly label all clothing, bags and other belongings with your child’s name. This makes it much easier for us to reunite children with lost items.
