The Co-Curriculum

Children at King's Cross Academy Primary School Assembly

King’s Cross Academy is committed to working in partnership with parents and carers to provide safe, stimulating and enjoyable childcare for our pupils.

We aim to help parents to balance work commitments and family life by providing convenient, affordable and high quality before and after school care during school term time. We also provide an extended curriculum – the ‘co-curriculum’ – which will build on the learning that happens during the school day.

Rise and Shine Breakfast Club

In order to help parents and carers, we offer a Breakfast Club at the Academy as part of our extended school service. Parents can drop children at school from 8am for them to have a healthy breakfast and to take part in supervised activities (e.g. painting, planting, board games, educational games in the ICT suite, outdoor play (weather permitting) and help with completing home learning) before the school day starts. At the end of Breakfast Club children will be escorted to their classrooms. The breakfast club will be run by our own Nursery Nurses and Teaching Assistants.

Children can attend on a weekly basis (either 5 days or selected days) or on an ad-hoc basis if required and if space is available. More details on how to book places, the fees and payment are set out below.

After School Service

We recognise that for some parents/carers, collecting their child at 3pm (for Nursery) or 3:30pm (for the rest of the school) can be difficult. To help, we provide care for children between 3pm and 6pm every day.

This service provides on-site childcare, where children can spend the afternoon in a happy, productive environment. It is distinct from our co-curricular clubs provision (outlined in the following section).

You can choose to use this service until 5pm or 6pm. Details of the costs will be provided before your child starts at the Academy.

Children will participate in a variety of supervised activities (e.g. construction games, arts and crafts, board games, use of the ICT suite, use of the outdoor play areas at school – weather permitting!) Children will also be provided with a healthy snack.

The Co-Curriculum – after-school activities that build on the school curriculum

As well as the extended school provision we offer a range of co-curricular clubs for children from Reception class to year 6. Our aim is to provide our children access to fun, enriching learning. Please note that the co-curriculum is not available for our Nursery children.

We have created a menu of stimulating activities which is sent to you at the beginning of each term. Parents will also be advised of opportunities in the newsletters.

We work hard to make sure our wrap around extended school service and co curricular is accessible to every child at the Academy
