Headteacher’s Update 1

Welcome to the first of our updates on the King’s Cross Academy. We have been busy in the months since admissions opened, and are now entering an extremely exciting phase of the process, meeting a lot of interested families, and seeing the final designs for the building coming together.

Our aim is for every child at the Academy to become a highly successful learner, and to create a facility where our children can reach their maximum potential, whilst also enjoying their learning. We have now finalised many aspects of the design and feel for the school, which we believe will aid world-class learning, in a creative and exciting learning environment.

A specialist sound system will be installed in each of the classrooms and communal areas to increase the quality of sound for pupils with hearing difficulties, as well as utilising these technologies to record teaching for future use and increased learning potential. There will be specialist class rooms to encourage life skills, such as cooking and interactive play. Children will also be encouraged to work with technology such as iPads, to develop IT skills.

As the Academy will be only a few steps from the Gasholder No.8 Park, the Granary Square fountains, Regent’s Canal and a Multi-Use Games Area, exploration of the site and utilising the open spaces will be key to the children’s growth and broadening their experiences.

I look forward to updating you over the coming months with further news on the Academy.
